Welcome to my website!

  • Are you or your adolescent suffering from anxiety or depression?
  • Are you feeling the need to talk with a compassionate professional about the stresses in your life?
  • Are your adolescent’s emotional or behavioral problems affecting him/her/them in school and/or at home?
  • Does your transgender teen need support, or an assessment in order to undergo a medical transition?

I’m a knowledgeable and experienced, yet down-to-earth therapist (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) who has been practicing for 25 years. I treat adults,  adolescents aged 13 and up, and families that have a wide range of issues [see Specialities], including Autism Spectrum Disorder. In my practice, you’ll be treated with respect by a non-judgmental and collaborative therapist, in a supportive and nurturing environment.

My therapeutic approach is gentle yet direct. I emphasize authenticity, empathy, curiosity, and humor within a safe and relaxed environment where clients are able to be themselves. I strive to deeply understand my clients in order to provide the most appropriate therapy. I identify each person’s unique needs, work collaboratively to address those needs, and empower my clients with tools they can use now and for the rest of their lives.

I use elements of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness, in my practice. I have special training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can be particularly effective for treating trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Finally, I strongly believe that working with people of all ages adds a special element to my practice, because it deepens my understanding of the challenges people face at each stage of life.

Since my graduation in 1998 from the Simmons College School of Social Work, I’ve worked in residential treatment at the New England Home for Little Wanderers’ Knight Children’s Center and I’ve also worked for South Shore Mental Health’s Foundations Program for Developmental Recovery and Rehabilitation, where I worked with children and adolescents diagnosed with major mental illness who were referred to the program by the state’s Department of Mental Health. I’ve been practicing in Canton, Massachusetts for more than a decade. From 2004 to 2008, I worked at the former Commonwealth Center for Psychotherapy, PC, a group psychotherapy practice. I have had a private practice since 2008.  I currently work remotely only.
